Nanometer Pore Structure Characterization of Taiyuan Formation Shale in the Lin-Xing Area Based on Nitrogen Adsorption Experiments

Ordos Basin is an important continental shale gas exploration site in China. The micropore structure of the reservoir great importance for evaluation. Taiyuan Formation lower Permian main interval this area. To examine nanometer pore structures reservoirs Lin-Xing area, Northern Shaanxi, microscopic characteristics were analyzed via nitrogen adsorption experiments. parameters, such as specific surface volume, and aperture distribution, calculated; significance storage was analyzed; controlling factors development assessed. results indicated area hole volume sample to be 0.141–2.188 m2/g 0.001398–0.008718 cm3/g, respectively. According IUPAC (International Union Pure Applied Chemistry) classification, mesopores macropores dominant structure, with presence a certain number micropores. curves similar standard IV (a)-type isotherm line, hysteresis loop type mainly H3 H4 types, indicating that most pores are dominated by open pores, parallel plate-shaped wedge-shaped slit pores. micropores provide vast majority functioning shale. areas Total organic carbon had no notable linear correlation total Vitrinite reflectance (Ro) but did have low “U” curve volume.
